GSC VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN PENSACOLA

With the win, the Emily Moore-coached Trojans advance to the GSC Second Round, hosted by top-seed and No. 25 University of West Florida (25-5, 20-0 GSC) in Pensacola. Trevecca faces third-seed Mississippi College (19-11, 13-7 GSC) at 6:00 PM on Friday, November 22, in the University of West Florida Fieldhouse.

The top-seeded UWF Argos ran the table in the league and are hosting the GSC Championships for the 14th time. Trevecca, who took the Argos to four sets in the first meeting in the Trojan Fieldhouse on October 19, is just one of four GSC teams to take a set from the Argos.

No GSC team took the Argos to five sets, and they had 3-0 sweeps in their final nine league matches. Additionally, they produced 3-0 sweeps in 15 of their 20 conference matches. They head into the GSC Championships having won 28 consecutive sets.

The Trojans were picked sixth in the preseason poll and finished their first GSC regular season race in sixth.

MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE VS TREVECCA

The two teams split the season series, both winning on their home court. The all-time series is tied 2-2. Trevecca won the first meeting in 1989, and the Choctaws won the last meeting prior to this year, in 1992.

The Choctaws won 3-1 in the first meeting (10/06) this season in Clinton, Miss. at the A.E. Wood Coliseum. It was the fifth win in a row on the season for MC. The teams were tied at 4-1 going into the match. Trevecca won the first set 25-18, but MC rallied to win the next three. O'Loughlin led TNU with 11 kills and three aces.

In the second meeting of the year, at the Trojan Fieldhouse in Nashville (11/01), the Trojans swept the Choctaws - 25-22, 25-12, 25-22. O'Loughlin led the team again with eight kills and a .727 attack percentage. O'Loughlin added four blocks.

The winner of the fifth all-time meeting punches their ticket to the semifinals on Saturday.

Trevecca is 3-3 in games played on a neutral court this season.

The Choctaws are led by Lydia Paulette, a first-team Gulf South All-conference selection. Paulette led the GSC in four offensive categories and is ranked in the top 10 in six categories. She is the only league member with 400+ kills. She was named the GSC Offensive Player of the Week three times this season and has nine of those honors in her career. She is the career leader in kills and points in Choctaw history. She set the career points mark in the match at Trevecca on November 1.

LOOKING BACK AT THE UNION SERIES

The Trevecca series with Union renewed one of the oldest rivalries for the program. Trevecca and Union have battled as conference foes in at least two previous conferences. They combined to play some high-energy battles during their days in the TranSouth Conference when both teams were affiliated with the NAIA.

Trevecca's first Gulf South volleyball match came against the Bulldogs in Fred Delay Gymnasium on the Union campus in Jackson, Tenn. The meeting turned into the Trojan's first GSC win, coming in four sets.

TREVECCA VOLLEYBALL NCAA ERA POSTSEASON HISTORY
