Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team (2-5-3, 1-3-3 GSC) suffered a tough 4-2 defeat to Valdosta State (5-5-1, 2-3-1 GSC) on Thursday afternoon, despite jumping to an early two-goal lead in the first five minutes of the match.
THE SERIES
This marked the first-ever meeting between the Lady Trojans and Blazers on the soccer field.
THE GAME
Trevecca started brightly, opening the scoring just 3 minutes into the match when a miscleared ball by the Blazers from a free kick landed at the feet of
Allie Windom, who chipped the keeper for a 1-0 lead.
Less than two minutes later, the Trojans doubled their advantage. Kaylee Maners set up
Katelyn Keogh who slotted the ball past Timberlake, making it 2-0 in favor of Trevecca at the 4:18 mark.
Valdosta State quickly responded, pulling one back in the 6th minute. Hunter Wallace scored for the Blazers after receiving a pass from Ana Moleka, cutting Trevecca's lead to 2-1.
In the 61st minute, Molly Wooldridge took advantage of a loose ball of a set piece and tied the match at 2-2.
Valdosta State took the lead in the 71st minute when Wallace netted her second goal of the game off another corner.
The Blazers capped off the comeback in the 84th minute when Maria Rojas scored sealing a 4-2 victory for the hosts.
