Trevecca Volleyball | Sweep Lane; Headed to Huntsville this Weekend

Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (3-2) won (25-13, 25-4, 25-20) on the road at Lane College (2-4) on Tuesday night at J F Lane Gymnasium. The win follows the four match season opening Ray Thrasher Classic at Trevecca, and precedes this weekend's four match trip to the University of Alabama Huntsville Invitational presented by the Huntsville Sports Commission.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
After the Dragons scored the first point, Trevecca rolled off five straight for a 5-1 lead. The Trojans held at least a four-point margin the rest of the way.
 
The second set was all Trojans. A 6-0 start left no doubt. Lane scored their last point when the set score was Trevecca 16, Lane 4. The Trojans got the side out on a kill by Skias Hainline and Cara Maguire served out the set with eight straight points on serve. The run included one ace.
 
Every Trojan got time on the floor tonight, including the Trojan debut for a few in the Purple and White. It was a tight set early, but Trevecca gained some separation 7-3, but the Dragons tied the match at 11-11. TNU responded with six straight for a 17-11 lead, but again the hosts rallied to tie the match at 19-19. Trevecca closed with a 6-1 run for the set and match win.

Trevecca hit .296 (30-9-71) for the match with 10 team aces.
  
TROJAN PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS
Nine different Trojans collected a kill with Emma Titus leading the way with six, all in the first set. Cara Maguire, Mackenzie Martin, and Maddie Wilds all added five kills. Emilee McDonald (10) and Skias Hainline (6) led the assists category. Skias Hainline had three service aces while Elizabeth Wells and Mack Presley each had two.
  
UP NEXT
Trevecca heads to Huntsville, Ala. this weekend for the University of Alabama Huntsville Invitational presented by the Huntsville Sports Commission (UAH Invitational Home) at Spragins Hall.
 
Trevecca opens with Anderson (SC) University (5-0) on Friday at 12:15 PM. No. 12 Barry University (1-1) is next at 7:00 PM. On Saturday, TNU faces Montevallo University (0-4) at 2:30 PM and the host Chargers of UAH (1-3) at 7:00 PM.
 
It is believed to be the first meeting with Anderson and Barry in volleyball. Montevallo and Trevecca are even 1-1 all time, with the Falcons taking the last meeting in 2022 and TNU winning in 2019. Huntsville leads the series 20-5, but TNU has won two of the last three, including a three-set sweep in the last meeting.
