TIFFIN, Ohio. – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (24-10, 8-2 Great Midwest) split their doubleheader on the road at Tiffin University (14-19, 6-6 Great Midwest). The Trojans lost the first game 2-1. Then they won game two 1-0.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

Trevecca is 7-2 versus the Dragons and won the last meeting against Tiffin, a 5-3 win in the opening game of the 2022 Great Midwest Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE REPORT:

Tiffin got out to an early 1-0 lead when they tallied on an RBI single. Then after a scoreless second inning, the Trojans tied the game in the third inning. Anna Bennett scored on a Kendall Andrews RBI double. 

Unfortunately for the Trojans, Tiffin would respond in the bottom of the third to retake the lead and make it 2-1. Trevecca's offense was kept in check the rest of the way as they could not capitalize on their seven hits in the game, leaving eight total batters on base. 

On the other end, Ashlan Sensing pitched a good outing as she only allowed two runs on six hits while striking six batters.

GAME TWO REPORT:

Game two was a low-event game, with the only score taking place in the fifth inning when Kendall Andrews reached home on a Jaylah Edmondson sacrifice flyout. Both teams struggled to capitalize on their hits. Out of a total of 13 hits, only one run was scored. Both teams left a total of 17 batters on base. Alex Behnke pitched stellar as she did not allow a run on five hits while striking out two batters in seven innings.

• Kendall Andrews went 2-4 with an RBI.
• Anna Bennett went 3-4 with a run scored.
• Ashlan Sensing (11-6) allowed only two runs on six hits while striking out six batters in six innings pitched.

GAME TWO - CIRCLE & BOX NOTES

• Kendall Andrews went 3-4 with a double and one run scored.
• Jaylah Edmondson had an RBi.
• Jessie Brown went 2-4.
• Alex Behnke (9-4) did not allow a run on five hits and struck out two batters in five innings pitched,

UP NEXT

Trevecca's next doubleheader is against Kentucky Wesleyan College (9-30, 0-10 Great Midwest) on Tuesday at 1:00 PM in Owensboro. The Trojans are 5-1 against the Panthers and swept the season series last year.

Then the Trojans will return home to face Hillsdale College (19-14, 6-2 Great Midwest) on Friday at 2:00 PM. The Trojans have a 4-10 record against the Chargers and won the previous meeting 2-0 in the second game of the Great Midwest Championships on May 5, 2022.
