SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

The Trojans have the all-time series lead of 20-14. The Panthers won the previous meeting against the Trojans, a 14-2 loss in eight innings in the first game of the 2022 Great Midwest Championships on May 11, 2022. The Trojans won last year's regular season series 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

GAME ONE:

The Panthers struck first in the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead.

Then after a scoreless third inning, the Trojans started to get momentum and began to load up the bases. Then Henry Mosley capitalized and hit a grand slam that brought in Cooper Whitt, Braden Reece, and David Milam to give the Trojans a 4-2 lead.

Both teams struggled offensively for a pair of innings until the bottom of the eighth inning.

Cooper Whitt hit an RBI single to bring David Milam home for an insurance run and make it 5-2. The Trojans needed the insurance run as Kentucky Wesleyan cut the Trojan's lead to 5-3 in the top of the ninth inning. However, Trojan pitcher Matthew Hock struck out the final batter to seal the win.

GAME TWO:

Both teams would struggle for the first two innings. Like game one, Kentucky Wesleyan broke the ice to go up 2-0 in the third inning.

The bats went quiet for the fourth and fifth innings as both teams struggled offensively. Then Kentucky Wesleyan tallied two more runs in the top of the sixth inning to extend their lead. In the seventh inning, the Panthers added a fifth run to put the Trojans on the ropes.

Kentucky Wesleyan's pitcher limited the Trojans to four total hits all game as the Trojans would be shut out.
