SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

Trevecca holds a 14-3 lead in the all-time series. Trevecca won the series 3-1 last year and took both games of a shortened regular season series in 2021. The teams split the regular season series in 2019.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE:

Jacob Lester broke the ice in the first inning when he was driven in by a Bryant Goolsby RBI single. But the Panthers tallied a pair of solo homers to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first.

Shawn Wallwork tied the game at 2-2 when he scored on a Henry Mosley RBI single, then Mosley scored for a 3-2 Trojan lead on a sac fly by Jacob Lester.

Ohio Dominican continued their strong hitting with a two-RBI double in their part of the second inning, regaining the lead 4-3.

The Trojan continued the back and forth when Logan West singled in a run for a 4-4 tie in the top of the third.

In the fourth, ODU pulled ahead 5-4 on a solo home run, but the Trojans matched them when Jacob Lester singled in Logan West with an RBI single to make it 5-5 in the top of the sixth.

A single run in the sixth and eighth innings gave ODU a 7-5 lead – enter the conference-leading closer in ODU's Myles Martinez. Martinez had seven saves entering the weekend and a .25 earned run average. He had not allowed an earned run since the season's second game. He shut down the Trojans in order in the seventh and eighth innings.

In the ninth inning, the Trojan got to Martinez. Joey Parliment, Jacob Lester, Josh Seiler, Bryant Goolsby, and Frankie Carreras all reached on at least a single. Parliment and Carraras doubled. Seiler's single drove in Parliment, and the Carreras double drove in three for a two run Trojan lead (9-7).

Shawn Wallwork walked before Logan West reached on a fielder's choice, but a throwing error allowed Carreras to score. Henry Mosley hit a sac fly that scored Wallwork, giving the Trojans an 11-7 lead. The final run came when Lester reached on a throwing error that allowed West to score – giving the Trojans a 12-7 lead.

In all, the Trojans scored seven runs on five hits against Panther's closer Myles Martinez, who, before this game, had only given up three runs this season with an ERA of 0.25 in 35.1 innings pitched.

Ohio Dominican didn't settle in, they scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the ninth, but Matthew Hock came in for the save (5) and closed on the Trojan win.

GAME TWO:

The Trojans struck first again in game two when Jacob Lester scored on a Shawn Wallwork RBI single. Then in the second inning, Joey Parliment hit a three-run home run driving in Andru Becker and Henry Mosley for a 4-0 Trojan lead.

Ohio Dominican got on the board in the second inning with a pair of runs. But Trevecca got back at it in the fourth inning when Henry Mosley scored on a bases-loaded walk of Jacob Lester.

In the seventh inning, Bryant Goolsby hit a solo home run into left field in the top of the seventh to put the game away and make it 6-2.

Jake Keele only allowed two unearned runs on four hits and struck out three batters in seven innings pitched. Over his last four starts, Keele had a 1.04 earned run average with three complete games. In his last two starts, he's not allowed an earned run. Over those 26 innings, he's allowed 16 hits, three earned runs, seven walks, three hit by pitched, and sat down 17 opponents on strikes.
