Box Score 2 NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (21-9, 7-1 Great Midwest) hosted and swept Ashland University (11-19, 5-5 Great Midwest) in a Sunday doubleheader. The Trojans broke a four-game Eagle win streak in game one, winning 2-0. Trevecca broke open a 1-1 game with a six-run fifth in game two and settled for a 9-5 win.
The game one win secures a 20-win season for the 14th time in the Ben Tyree era. This is his 15th season. The only year the team didn't reach 20 wins was in the 2020 COVID season when the Trojans season was interrupted with a 15-3 mark. When kicking out the 2020 COVID season, the Trojans have won 20 or more games in the last 23 seasons. In all, the Trojans have 20 wins in 26 of their 32 seasons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE REPORT:
Trevecca scored a run in the bottom of the third and in their half of the sixth.
In the third, Anna Bennett continued her hot bat with a double, driving in Kyleigh Burgett.
Sarah Nicholson drove in Kendall Andrews with a sac fly in the sixth.
Both teams were held to just five hits in the seven-inning game. Both teams played clean defensively.
GAME TWO REPORT:
Both teams scored a run in their half of the first inning and the game remained 1-1 until the bottom of the fifth inning when Trevecca plated six runs for a 7-1 lead. Ashland make 7-2 with a run in the top of the sixth, but TNU scored two in the bottom frame for a 9-2 Trojan lead. The Eagles made it interesting with a three-run top of the seventh, but Alex Behnke came in to shut the door for a 9-5 TNU win.
Maddie Poschke lead off the fifth with the first of three straight singles (Kyleigh Burgett, Jessie Brown). Brown's single scored Alex Skinner, who was pinch-running for Poschke. Sarah Nicholson and Skinner both drove in two runs later in the inning and Azaria Jones drove in the other run.
GAME ONE- CIRCLE & BOX NOTES
- Ashlan Sensing (10-4) pitched a complete game shutout, allowing five hits, no walks, with four strikeouts. She faced 26 batters, five over the minimum.
- Anna Bennett went 2-3 with a double and an RBI.
- Kendall Andrews hit her league-leading seventh triple of the year.

UP NEXT
Next, Trevecca hosts former conference rival Lee University (9-26) On the Hill Tuesday, April 4 at 2:00 PM.
Trevecca is 6-8 versus the Flames in the NCAA Division II era. TNU took the last meeting with LU, 14-8, in 2019.
The Trojans return to Great Midwest play on Saturday when they visit Tiffin for an 11:00 AM doubleheader.
