SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
The Trojans have a 5-11 record against the Chargers and won the previous meeting 2-0 in the second game of the Great Midwest Championships on May 5, 2022.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE REPORT:
The Trojans struck first in the first inning and got out to a 1-0 lead when Anna Bennett hit a solo home run.
It was quiet for a couple of innings, then Trevecca scored again in the fourth inning when Sarah Nicholson scored on a Jaylah Edmondson sacrifice flyout to make it 2-0.
After the fourth-inning score, neither team could get any more runs. Ashlan Sensing and the Trojan outfield had another outstanding performance as they did not allow Hillsdale to score, limiting them to only three hits. Sensing also struck out five batters that she faced.
GAME TWO REPORT:
Trevecca struggled to get their offense going in game two, and for the first couple of innings, neither team could. However, Hillsdale broke through in the third inning with a trio of runs.
The Trojans would be held scoreless until the seventh inning when Gracie Kirby hit a double, then Alex Skinner pinch-ran for her and advanced to third on a sac ground out. Alex Skinner was brought home on a Carly Sperlich sacrifice flyout to cut their deficit to 3-1. Unfortunately, it was not enough to rally. Trevecca was held to four hits and one run.
