Box Score 2 OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (26-10, 10-2 Great Midwest) swept their double-header on the road at Kentucky Wesleyan College (9-34, 0-14 Great Midwest). The Trojans won the first game 6-2. Then they won game two 9-1 (five innings).

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE REPORT:
The Trojans came out firing on all cylinders as they scored three runs in the first inning. Jessie Brown started the scoring when she reached home on an Anna Bennett RBI double. Then Bennett scored on a Gracie Kirby sacrifice flyout. After, Kendall Andrews scored on a Carly Sperlich RBI single to make it 3-0.
In the second, the Trojans added two more runs when Kyleigh Burgett scored on an Anna Bennett RBI single, and Jessie Brown scored on a Panthers error to make it 5-0. After the scoring outburst, both teams struggled to generate offense. After three scoreless innings, Alyssa Triner added a run in the sixth inning to make it 6-0.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Kentucky Wesleyan tallied a pair of runs to cut the Trpjan's lead to 6-2. But Ashlan Sensing struck out two batters in the seventh inning to secure the win for the Trojans. Sensing had a season and career-high 12 strikeouts in game one, which held the Panthers to only two runs.
GAME TWO REPORT:
The Trojan's strong offense continued into game two, scoring four first-inning runs. Kendall Andrews hit a two-run home run that also brought in Jessie Brown to go up 2-0. Then Jaylah Edmondson hit a two-run home run that brought Maddie Poschke home to make it 4-0. However, the Panthers tallied a run in the bottom of the first to cut the lead down to 4-1.
After a scoreless second inning, the Trojans went back to work when Alyssa Triner hit a two-RBI triple to bring home Alex Skinner and Maddie Poschke to extend the lead to 6-1. Then an Anna Bennett three-RBI double that brought in Azaria Jones, Malone Thrift, and Alyssa Triner for scores put the game away and made it 9-1. Trevecca's outfield did the rest, holding the Panthers to just one run.
GAME ONE- CIRCLE & BOX NOTES
- Ashlan Sensing (12-6) allowed only two runs on six hits while striking out a career-high 12 batters in seven innings pitched.
- Gracie Kirby went 0-1 with three RBIs.
- Anna Bennett went 3-3 with a double, two RBIs, and one run scored.
- Carly Sperlich went 1-3 with an RBI.

UP NEXT
Then the Trojans will return home to face Hillsdale College (19-14, 6-2 Great Midwest) on Friday at 2:00 PM. The Trojans have a 4-10 record against the Chargers and won the previous meeting 2-0 in the second game of the Great Midwest Championships on May 5, 2022.
Then on Saturday, the Trojans will host the University of Findlay (23-8, 8-2 Great Midwest) for a double-header at 2:00 PM. The Trojans are 4-5 all-time against the Oilers, and the Trojans have now won three out of the last five meetings. Including the previous meeting, a 5-1 win in the Great Midwest Championships.
