Box Score 2 NORTH CANTON, Ohio. – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (16-8, 2-0 Great Midwest) opened up conference play at Walsh University (6-12, 0-2 Great Midwest) with a double-header and won 6-2 in game one, and won in game two 10-1 (five innings) for the sweep.

The Trojans have an 11-2 record against Walsh and have now won three in a row in the series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE NOTES:
The Trojans, who hadn't played in 10 days, came out of the gate fresh and ready to go. Anna Bennett scored the first run of the game in the first inning off a Carly Sperlich RBI double. Walsh knotted the game up at 1-1 in the bottom of the first. After a few scoreless innings, the Trojans broke through when Carly Sperlich tallied a run on a Sydney McCormick RBI single in the fourth inning. In the fifth and sixth innings, Anna Bennett and Sarah Nicholson tallied runs to extend the Trojan's lead to 4-1. Walsh tallied a run late in the sixth inning to cut it to 4-2. But the Trojans put the game out of reach with two runs in the seventh. Anna Bennett tallied on a Gracie Kirby RBI single. Then Kendall Andrews scored on a Sarah Nicholson RBI single to make it 6-2. Trojan pitcher Ashlan Sensing kept Walsh's bats in check as she allowed only five hits.
GAME TWO NOTES:
The Trojans continued their offensive momentum into game two, scoring seven runs over the first two innings. It started when Jessie Brown scored on an Anna Bennett RBI double. Then Kendall Andrews brought Bennett home with a two-run home run to make it 3-0. Then in the second inning, Malone Thrift reached home on a Jessie Brown RBI double. Then Anna Bennett doubled to bring in Kyleigh Burgett, and Carly Sperlich doubled to bring home Bennett. A Gracie Kirby double would bring Sperlich to make it 7-0. Walsh got on the board in the third inning, but Kendall Andrews hit her second home run of the game to make it 8-1 in the fourth inning. Trojan pitcher Alex Behnke and the Trojan outfield played great as they limited Walsh's offense to only one run. In the fifth inning, Trevecca put the game out of reach when Jessie Brown and Azaria Jones scored off an Anna Bennett two-RBI single to make it 10-1 to force the run rule.

The Trojans will travel to Malone University on Sunday for a double-header. Times are TBA. The Trojans are 6-3 against Malone, who split last year's season series against the Trojans.
