Box Score 2 NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (14-8) hosted Union University (13-12) for a double-header and won 8-0 (six innings) in game one and won in game two 5-4 for the sweep. The Trojans have won seven in a row and nine of their last 10.

The Trojans have a 6-2 record against Union and swept last season's double-header by a combined score of 20-0, making it four in a row for the Trojans.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE NOTES:
After Ashlan Sensing and the Trojan's outfield held Union scoreless for the first three innings, the Trojan offense got to work in the bottom of the third inning. Malone Thrift broke the ice on a sac flyout by Kendall Andrews. Then Anna Bennett made it 2-0 when she scored on a Gracie Kirby flyout. Then the Trojans fired on all cylinders in the fifth inning as they scored five more runs. Jessie Brown scored off an Anna Bennett RBI single. Sarah Nicholson then hit an RBI double that brought in Kyleigh Adams. Carly Sperlich would also score on a throwing error before Sarah Nicholson rounded out the scoring when she reached home on a Sydney McCormick RBI single. Jessie Brown scored again in the sixth inning to give some added insurance. Ashlan Sensing was stout all game long as she would not allow a single Union run and only four hits. In the process, she struck out seven batters that she faced.
GAME TWO NOTES:
Union struck first in game two, scoring a run in the first inning. They extended their lead in the third inning to make it 4-0. The Trojan's offense struggled early on but broke through in the fourth inning. Alyssa Triner got the Trojans on the board when she scored off an Anna Bennett RBI double. Then in the fifth inning, Kendall Andrews hit a solo home run to cut Union's lead to 4-2. Then in the sixth inning, the Trojans completed the comeback, scoring three more runs to take the lead. Malone Thrift scored on an Anna Bennett RBI triple. Then Azaria Jones hit a two-run home run, bringing Bennett in to make it 6-5. Trojan pitcher Ashlan Sensing and the Trojan's outfield cleaned up at the top of the seventh to secure the victory.
GAME ONE- CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES
- Kendall Andrews went 1-2 with three RBIs and one run scored.
- Gracie Kirby went 1-2 with three RBIs.
- Sarah Nicholson went 1-3 with a double, an RBI, and one run scored.
- Ashlan Sensing (6-4) did not allow a run on only four hits and struck out seven batters during six innings pitched.
GAME TWO - CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES
- Anna Bennett went 2-4 with a triple, a double, two RBIs, and one run scored.
- Kendall Andrews went 2-2 with a home run, an RBI, and one run scored.
- Malone Thrift went 1-3 with a double and one run scored.
- Alex Behnke (4-3) did not allow a run on one hit in 1.1 innings pitched.
- Ashlan Sensing, the winner in game one, picked up the save in game two.
UP NEXT
The Trojans will begin conference play on Saturday at 1:00 PM when they travel to Owensboro to face Kentucky Wesleyan (7-20) for a doubleheader. The Trojans are 5-1 in the series and swept last season's double-header against the Panthers by a combined score of 20-2 and won both games in five innings.
