NASHVILLE- Trevecca Nazarene University baseball (3-7) hosted Lewis University (1-3) and won 5-1 in the day's first game. Then won 6-0 in game two of the day (seven innings) for the three-game sweep.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

The Trojans are now 9-5 against Lewis and have won six straight games against Lewis.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE:

Both teams' offenses' struggled the first few innings. Then Trevecca got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when David Milam scored on a wild pitch. The Trojans extended their lead in the fourth inning when Josh Seiler hit a three-run home run which also brought in Shawn Wallwork and Paxton Hughes to make it 4-0. Lewis got going in the fifth inning as they tallied a run to cut the Trojan's lead to 4-1. However, the Trojans would not be deterred, as Paxton Hughes hit an RBI single to bring in Joey Parliment to make it 5-1 in the bottom of the fifth. Trojan pitchers Caleb Marks and Tyler Sills locked in as they would allow only one run on seven combined hits to preserve the Trojan's lead.

GAME TWO:

The Trojans started hot as they scored three runs in the first inning. Jory Parliment scored off of a Josh Griffin RBI double. Then Josh Seiler and Josh Griffin scored off a two-RBI fielding error caused by Henry Mosley. The scoring continued in the third inning as the Trojans extended their lead to 6-0. David Milam hit a single that brought in Josh Griffin for the score. Then Shawn Wallwork scored on a wild pitch. David Milam scored to make it 6-0 off of an Andru Becker RBI single. Trojan pitcher Jack Keele slammed the door shut as he did not allow a run on only three hits.

CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES GAME ONE:

• Josh Seiler went 1-3 with a home run, three RBIs, and one run scored.
• Paxton Hughes went 2-4 with an RBI and one run scored.
• Joey Parliment went 2-3 with one run scored.
• Caleb Marks (1-1) allowed only one run on four hits and struck out nine batters in six innings pitched.

CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES GAME TWO:

• David Milam went 2-2 with a double, an RBI, and one run scored.
• Josh Griffin went 3-4 with a double, an RBI, and two runs scored.
• Joey Parliment went 2-4 with a run scored.
• Jack Keele (1-0) did not allow a run on only three hits while striking out three batters in seven innings pitched. 

UP NEXT

The Trojans will host Illinois-Springfield (4-3)  next Friday and Saturday for a three-game series beginning at 2:00 PM on Friday. This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
