Trevecca Baseball | Trojans Walk Off Against Lewis; Doubleheader Friday

NASHVILLE- Trevecca Nazarene University baseball (1-7) got their first win of the year with a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth against visiting Lewis University (1-1) at Jackson Field. The Trojans trailed 4-2 going to the bottom of the ninth but scored three runs for a 5-4 in the first game of the three-game series.

The Trojans are now 7-5 against Lewis and swept the three-game series last season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first few innings were quiet, as neither team could muster anything offensively. Both starting pitchers had dominating stuff on the mound. Lewis starter Jake Karaba went 5.2 innings with 11 strikeouts. Trevecca starter Elijah Pleasants went 5.1 with eight strikeouts.

In the third inning, Andru Becker and Josh Seiler scored off a Joey Parliment two-RBI double putting the Trojans on the board first.

Lewis put a run on the board in the fifth inning, cutting their deficit in half at 2-1. Lewis took the lead with a three-run sixth inning.

Their 4-2 lead held until Josh Seiler hit a solo home run with an out in the ninth inning. A flyout followed the homer, but with two outs David Milam singled up the middle to keep the Trojans alive. Garrett Smith came in to pinch run for Milam. Joey Parliment followed with a single and Henry Mosley. walked to load the bases. Josh Griffin stepped in and hit a two-run double to walk it off.

Matthew Hock (1-0) pitched the final three innings for the win. Hock allowed just a hit and a walk with four strikeouts.
