SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

Belmont Abbey won the first-ever meeting last season 7-3 at Jackson Field on February 12, 2022. The series is now 4-0 in favor of Belmont Abbey.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Trojans opened up the scoring in the second inning when Shawn Wallwork scored on a Jacob Lester RBI single. Belmont Abbey responded in the bottom of the second with a two-RBI double to take the lead. In the fourth inning, the Trojans retook the lead following a Josh Griffin two-RBI single that brought in Paxton Hughes and Braden Reece to make it 3-2. Then in the fifth inning, Roland Ryan scored on a wild pitch, and Shawn Wallwork scored on a Paxton Hughes sac-fly to extend the Trojan's lead to 5-2. Belmont Abbey stormed back to take a 7-5 lead following a four-run sixth inning and another run in the seventh. Josh Seiler hit a two-RBI single that brought in Josh Griffin and Jacob Lester in the eighth inning to tie the game at 7-7. Then in extra innings, Belmont Abbey walked it off with a two-run home run to take the game.
