Box Score 2 HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Trevecca Nazarene University softball (1-1) opened up the 2022-23 season at the UAH Charger Chillout, where they fell to the host Alabama-Huntsville (5-1) in their first game of the day 5-4 (nine innings). Then they defeated Young Harris College (4-3) in game two, 9-2.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
The Chargers have a 3-2 lead in the all-time series against The Trojans. Alabama-Huntsville won the previous meeting on February 11, 2022, 9-1.
Young Harris has a 3-1 series lead over the Trojans.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE ALABAMA-HUNTSVILLE:
Both teams struggled offensively for the first couple of innings before the Trojans broke through in the third inning. Jessie Brown scored on a Kendall Andrews fly-out to get the Trojans on the board. Trojan pitcher Ashlan Sensing kept the Charger's offense in check as she and the Trojan outfield did not allow Alabama-Huntsville to score. However, in the bottom of the sixth, the Chargers broke through to take the lead on a two-run home run. The Trojans tied the game up in the top of the seventh inning when Carly Sperlich scored on a fielding error by Alabama-Huntsville to force extra innings. Then in the eighth inning, Sarah Nicholson scored to give the Trojans a 3-2 lead off of an Anna Bennett single. The Chargers scored in the bottom of the eighth to extend the game further. Jessie Brown scored in the ninth inning on a wild pitch to make it 4-3. But the Chargers scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to take the game.
GAME TWO YOUNG HARRIS:
Young Harris claimed the first run of the game in the first inning. But the Trojans struck back as they tied it in the second inning when Maddie Poschke hit a single to bring in Gracie Kirby. Then in the third, the Trojans added three runs to make it 4-1. Brianna Asmondy hit a double to drive in Anna Bennett. A Kendall Andrews triple brought in Asmondy. Then Andrews was brought in on a sac bunt by Gracie Kirby. Young Harris tallied a run in the fifth, and the Trojans escaped a bases-loaded situation to keep the score at 4-2. Then they extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth with a trio of RBI singles to make it 7-2. Then two more runs in the sixth for added insurance.

UP NEXT
The Trojans wrap up their games at the UAH Charger Chillout tomorrow when they take on the University of Indianapolis (1-1) at 11:00 AM, and then they play Maryville University (2-3) at 4:00 PM for game two of the day.
