Trevecca Women's Soccer | Trojans Tie the Panthers to end the Season

Box Score NASHVILLE - The Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team (6-6-5, 6-3-5 Great Midwest) tied Kentucky Wesleyan College (2-13, 2-11 Great Midwest), 1-1, at the Trevecca Soccer Complex.

The result places Trevecca as the fifth seed at the 2023 Great Midwest Championships and a date with the University of Findlay on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 1 PM. The Oilers are the fourth seed. More later.

Despite numerous attempts by the Trojans and Panthers, this Great Midwest match went goalless in the first period. Trevecca had five shots with one on goal. Kentucky Wesleyan attempted seven shots with six on goal.

Trevecca keeper, Bailie Fiore, made six saves in the first period. Kentucky Wesleyan keeper, Kassidy Elkin, made one.

Just under four minutes into the second period (48:30), the Panther's Chloe Hinchcliffe scored the first goal of the game on a penalty kick, making the score 1-0 Panthers.

With the time and Trojan hopes winding down, Katelyn Keogh, assisted by Peyton Wilkinson, saved the day with the equalizer at 87:17, making it 1-1. Neither team was able to close out the win over the final minutes and the match ended in a draw.

Both keepers had two second period saves. Kentucky Wesleyan had five shots, three on goal. The Trojans fired seven shots, three were on goal.

Both teams had 12 shots and the Panthers had a 9-4 advantage in shots on goal.

TREVECCA VS FINLAY | Twelfth Great Midwest Quarterfinals
Great Midwest Women's Soccer Championships
#5 Trevecca at #4 Findlay | 1:00 PM CT
Trevecca has never beaten the Oilers in women's soccer. UF leads the all-time series 5-0-3. The Oilers beat the Trojans 3-1 on October 5, 2023, also at DeHaven Field.

The first five meetings in the series were as close as anyone could want. Findlay had the edge, 2-0-3, but aside from the two ties, Finlay had a 2-0 and 1-0 win. The last three matches have been all Finlay though. UF owns 5-1, 4-2, and 3-1 wins in the last two seasons.

TREVECCA NOTES
The Trojans, under first year head coach Nathan Harrell, are 6-6-5 overall and 3-4-3 in league play. The Trojans have more draws than anyone else in the league in conference play. Ohio Dominican, who has four league ties, had six overall, one more than the Trojans.

Two of the Trojan draws are against Northwood University and Ashland University, on back-to-back dates. Until Oct. 21, the then No. 1 Ashland Eagles, had just the one non-win on their record - the 0-0 tie at Trevecca. In fact, Trevecca and Findlay are the only two teams to shutout Ashland this season or not lose to them. Findlay played to a draw with Ashland, twice, 1-1 and 0-0. Northwood started 0-1-2, but aside from the 1-1 tie with Trevecca, Northwood won the next 10 of 11, going 10-0-1 in that stretch. In fact, since that 0-1-2 start, Northwood is 13-1-1. The draw at TNU and a 2-0 loss at Findlay are the only non-wins on the Timberwolves schedule.

The Trojans had a run of 6-1-4 during the middle part of the season.

Katelyn Keogh leads the Trojans in scoring, six (6) goals, and points, 13. She added on assists and has two game winning goals. Keogh, a junior, has 15 career goals, five assists, and 35 points. She is tied with former Trojans Abbigail Legg for sixth on the career points list. On the career goals list, she is tied for sixth with Courtney Dyer.

Grace Oliver is second on the team with four goals and she has three assists contributing to her 11 points.

Skye Baun has three goals and two assists to produce the third most point, eight (8) on the team. Baun has seven career goals and 16 career points. Four of her seven goals have been game winning goals.

Ryann Anderson has two goals and two assist for six points. Anderson, a junior, has seven career goals and assists that combined give her 21 career points.

Bailie Fiore is 6-3-5 on the year in goal with a 1.20 goals against average. She has produced three shutouts this year.
