Box Score LEBANON, ILL – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team (2-1-1) concluded non-conference play on Saturday with a 1-0 loss to McKendree University (3-0-0) at Leemon Field.
THE SERIES
The Bearcats improve to 3-0 all-time versus the Trojans with today's victory. The previous two meetings were also won by the same result of 1-0.
THE MATCH
The final score between the Trojans and Bearcats on Saturday is not indicative of the competitive, hard-fought match played on the pitch. The Trojans and Bearcats played until the game's final minutes before seeing any difference. In the 89th minute, it was McKendree's Lena Higgins who collected the game-winner for the Bearcats at 89:25. Higgins' goal was assisted by Destiney Johnson. After winning the ball near midfield the Bearcats drove down the pitch on the front foot. After a shot from the left was headed down, Higgins found the ball right at her feet. She picked it up on her left foot and connected for the goal, beating Trojan keeper Delayna Holman on her right side. In the end, Holman made five total saves and McKendree led in shots 19-9.
UP NEXT
The Trojans return home for just a single match next week when they play hosts to Tiffin University (1-1-1) to begin Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
Trevecca has never lost to Tiffin, holding a 4-0-1 all-time mark over the Dragons.
