Trevecca Women's Soccer | Trojans Overpower Lake Erie for the Season Sweep

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team (6-2-2, 4-1-1 Great Midwest) returned home to host Lake Erie College (1-7-1, 0-6-0 Great Midwest) for the second matchup this season and won 2-0 on Thursday afternoon.

THE SERIES

The Trojans hold the advantage in the all-time series with a 5-0-1 record. The Trojans claimed the first meeting this season 2-1 at Lake Erie on September 17^th, thus sweeping the season series.

THE MATCH

The Trojans came out fierce as they took the game's first five shots. One of the shots went in but was disallowed due to offsides. Trevecca kept applying pressure but couldn't capitalize.

Then the Trojans finally broke through in the second half. In the 51^st minute, Danyel Joy took a free kick next to the Trojan bench, and Lexie Wilson redirected it for the goal. The assist was Joy's 10th career assist, ranking her 3rd in career assists in the NCAA era. They weren't done there as shots continued to pepper the Lake Erie goalkeeper. Makena Schlosser made it 2-0 when she received a pass from Ryann Anderson in the 82^nd minute to put the game out of reach. With the goal, Schlosser is now 4^th in career goals in the NCAA era with 22. She also is now 3^rd in career points with 53. The Trojans controlled shots and shots on goal 19-8 and 12-5, respectively. They also had an 8-3 advantage on corner kicks.

UP NEXT

Trevecca will travel to Ashland University (7-3, 5-3 Great Midwest) on Saturday at 11:00 a.m before returning to the Hill for a match against Walsh (4-4-1, 2-3-1 Great Midwest) on Thursday.
