Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (3-5, 1-4 Great Midwest) visited conference newcomer Northwood University (4-2-4, 3-2-1 Great Midwest) for the first-ever matchup between the two teams, and were defeated 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
THE SERIES
Northwood takes the first-ever meeting between these two teams and has a 1-0 lead in the series.
THE MATCH
The Trojans controlled the first half as they tallied six shots in the first half, with three being on goal. Trevecca held Northwood to only three shots with none on goal in the first half. The Trojans also had the advantage in corner kicks, 5-2. However, neither team was able to score on their shots.
The offense ramped up in the second half as Trevecca and the Timberwolves tested each other's goalkeepers. The physicality also ramped up as three yellow cards were given out, two to Northwood and one to Trevecca. In a battle of defense, Northwood tested Adan Gonzalez late and broke the tie in the 83rd minute to make it 1-0.
UP NEXT
Trevecca will return home next Thursday to face Lake Erie (1-5-2, 0-3-1 Great Midwest) at 7:00 at the Trojan Soccer Complex.
