Trevecca Women's Soccer | Trojans Move into First-place Tie in Great Midwest with Historic Win over KWC

NASHVILLE. – It was an afternoon of more history for the Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team (5-2-1, 3-1-0 Great Midwest). The Trojans shut out Kentucky Wesleyan College (1-6-1, 0-4-0 Great Midwest), 2-0, at the Trojan Soccer Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

THE SERIES

The Trojans control the all-time series with Kentucky Wesleyan 12-1-3. Trevecca took both meetings last season by scores of 2-1 and 3-2.

THE MATCH FLOW

Neither team could solve the opposing keeper in the first half, but Ryann Anderson found a way in the 59th minute with an assist from Makena Schlosser.

The game-winner stood as the only goal of the match until Makena Schlosser scored unassisted in the 83rd minute.

Delayna Holman and the defense produced another clean sheet. It is the third of the season.

THE NOTES

Delayna Holman put her name in the record book again and Makena Schlosser continued moving up the career lists for points, goals, and assists. And, the Trojans are now tied atop the conference standings with Cedarville, Findlay, and Ashland - all four are 3-1 in league play.

It is career shutout No. 22 for Trojan keeper Delayna Holman who is now the all-time career-shutout leader. She surpasses Liz Denton who had 21 shutouts in her standout career. Holman is 33-26-12 all-time in goal. She added to her career record for saves with five today and now has 365. The Great Midwest record is 379.

Holman leads all active career NCAA Division II keepers and is fifth among all NCAA levels.

The Makena Schlosser goal and assist move her up the all-time NCAA Era list in points with 51 and now has 21 career goals and nine assists. She is third now in all-time points, fourth in goals, and tied for third in assists.  

Ryann Anderson scored her second game-winning goal of the year for the Trojans. She has three goals for the year and a total of six points.  

UP NEXT

Trevecca will go on the road to face conference newcomer Northwood (3-1-2, 2-0-1 Great Midwest) on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. before returning home next Thursday to face Lake Erie (1-4-1, 0-3-0 Great Midwest).
