Box Score NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team (1-0-1) opened the home portion of their 2022 schedule with a 1-0 non-conference win over Lincoln Memorial University (0-1-0) on the Hill.
The Trojans are 3-1 all-time versus the Rail Splitters, but it is the first time the teams have met since 2014.
Both teams worked the ball on the opponent's end of the pitch early on with minimal chances. The Trojans lone shot on goal in the first period resulted in the only score of the match, a goal by newcomer Skye Baun in the 27th minute. Her first career goal in the Purple and White is also a game-winner.
Abbigail Legg assisted, her second of the year. Legg stands alone in third in assists in the NCAA Era with 10 career assists.
The Trojans had six corner kicks, three in each half, while LMU had two for the match. The Splitters outshot the Trojans 12-11.
Delayna Holman had a clean sheet over 90 minutes, it is her 21st career shutout, one short of the NCAA Era record set by Liz Denton. It is also her 29th career win.
The Trojans return to action Thursday, September 1 at Illinois Springfield (6 p.m.). The Prairie Stars are 1-0-1. They tied 2-2 with Tiffin University and beat Parkside 1-0.
