Box Score 2 JACKSON, Tenn. – Trevecca Nazarene University softball (20-9, 4-2 Great Midwest) swept the doubleheader against Union University (13-20, 7-11 Great Midwest) by winning 11-0 in game one and 9-0 in game two (five innings) on Thursday afternoon in Jackson. With the two shutouts, the Trojans have reached 20 wins in each of the last 21 seasons, not counting the COVID shortened 2020 season, which limited games to 18.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE:
The Trojans jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Kendall Andrews scored on a ground out. Following the run, neither team could get their offense going. Then the Trojans took over in the fifth inning. Anna Bennett and Alyssa Triner tallied runs on an error by Union to extend the Trojan's lead to 3-0. They continued the momentum into the sixth inning when Kelsey McPeters hit a three-run home run into left field, her third of the season, to make it 6-0. Then the floodgates opened in the seventh inning as Trevecca scored five runs to put the game away. Carly Sperlich started the seventh inning by scoring with a two-run home run. Then Kendall Andrews scored on a single by Lenna Robinson, who would advance to second on the play due to an error by Union, and later Robinson would score on an error. Trojan pitchers Ashlan Sensing and Alex Behnke kept Union at bay, allowing no runs on a combined five hits.
GAME TWO:
The Trojans continued the late momentum from game one into game two. They started by scoring five runs in the first inning. Anna Bennett hit a double that brought in Lenna Robinson for the score. Then Alyssa Triner hit a double that scored Anna Bennett. Triner would be brought in by a double by Sydney McCormick, who also advanced to third on the play. A Carly Sperlich single brought in McCormick. Then an error by Union advanced two Trojan runners and scored Carly Sperlich. In the second inning, Lenna Robinson scored on a sacrifice bunt by Alyssa Triner to make it 6-0. The Trojans added two more runs in the fourth inning when Anna Bennett hit another double, bringing Kendall Andrews and Malone Thrift. The Trojans put the game away by adding another run in the fifth to make it 9-0, which ended the game due to the run rule. Trojan pitchers Hannah Caffey and Rylee Veron held Union to no runs and allowed only two combined hits.
CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES- GAME ONE:
- Lenna Robinson went 3-4 with an RBI and one run scored. She extended her now career-high total of stolen bases to 32 after having one in game one and two in game two
- Kendall Andrews went 1-3 with an RBI and two runs scored
- Kelsey McPeters went 1-1 with a home run, three RBIs, and one run scored
- Ashlan Sensing (9-3) pitched six innings and did not allow a run on four hits while striking out eight batters
CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES- GAME TWO
- Anna Bennett went 2-3 with two doubles, three RBIs, and one run scored
- Lenna Robinson went 2-3 with two runs scored
- Alyssa Triner went 1-2 with two RBIs and one run scored
- Hannah Caffey (5-1) pitched four innings and did not allow a run on only two hits while striking out one batter
