HOW IT HAPPENED

Later in the inning, Carly Sperlich hit a single into right field with two out, which allowed Alyssa Triner to run home for the score. Lake Erie came very close to getting on the board and potentially taking the lead in the top of the fourth inning as they would load the bases. But with two out, Trojan pitcher Ashlan Sensing struck out the final batter to end the inning and escape with the shutout intact. Sensing would not allow Lake Erie to score while holding Lake Erie to only four hits all game.
