CEDARVILLE, Ohio. – Trevecca Nazarene University softball (24-13, 8-6 Great Midwest) swept Friday's double-header against Cedarville University (19-16, 4-10 Great Midwest) by winning 4-0 in game one and 6-3 (eight innings) in game two while on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE:

The Trojans got off to a strong start as they jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after the first inning. Alyssa Triner scored on an error by Cedarville. Then in the second inning, the Trojans extended their lead to 4-0. With one out, Alyssa Triner hit a triple that scored Malone Thrift and Kaylee Adams. Then with two out, Anna Bennett hit a single that brought in Alyssa Triner to make it 4-0. After the second inning, neither team could get much offense going. Trojan pitcher Ashlan Sensing kept Cedarville in check as she allowed only two hits with no runs allowed. 

GAME TWO:

Game two was a shallow scoring affair as neither team could get much going. Cedarville took the early 1-0 lead after the first inning. The Trojans would get runners on base on a few occasions but were never able to capitalize. Then in the fifth inning, Megan Walker, who was pinch-running for Gracie Kirby and advanced to third on a wild pitch, scored on a sacrifice fly out by Malone Thrift to tie the game at 1-1. Then in the eighth inning, the Trojans took over. With two out, Anna Bennett hit a triple, which brought Alyssa Triner to take the lead. Then Kendall Andrews hit a two-run home run to extend the Trojan's lead. Carly Sperlich rounded the scoring out with a double that brought in Sydney McCormick to make it 5-1. Then Gracie Kirby hit a double that brought in Carly Sperlich. Cedarville attempted to extend the game but came up short.

CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES- GAME ONE:

• Alyssa Triner went 2-4 with a triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
• Malone Thrift went 2-3 with one run scored.
• Anna Bennett went 1-4 with an RBI.
• Ashlan Sensing (12-6) pitched a complete game and did not allow a run on two hits while striking out one batter.

CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES- GAME TWO

• Kendall Andrews went 1-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and one run scored.
• Anna Bennett went 2-4 with a triple, a double, an RBI, and one run scored.
• Gracie Kirby went 2-4 with a double and an RBI.
• Alex Behnke (4-4) pitched eight innings and allowed only three runs on seven hits while striking out three batters.

The Trojans stay on the road as they take on Ohio Dominican University (23-13, 13-1 Great Midwest) for a double-header on Saturday starting at 11:00 AM.
