HILLSDALE, Mich.– Trevecca Nazarene University softball (22-11, 6-4 Great Midwest) lost a pair of games on Friday at Hillsdale College (22-17, 10-1 Great Midwest). The host Chargers won a well-played and pitched game one, 1-0. In game two both offenses showed, but the game was interrupted in the bottom of the fifth due to weather with Hillsdale leading 9-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE:

Game one was a shallow scoring affair, with neither team could get much offense going. Both teams totaled three hits each. In the second inning, Sydney McCormick got the first hit of the game with a single; however, the Trojans could not get anything else. In the third inning, Malone Thrift was hit by a pitch, and Lenna Robinson hit a single to advance Thrift to second, but both would be left on base. The Trojan's final hit came in the fourth inning when Sydney McCormick hit her second single of the game. Hillsdale would tally the game's only run in the fourth inning. 

GAME TWO:

Both teams brought the offense in game two despite initially threatening weather that turned to drizzle and forced the game to be halted in the bottom of the fifth with Hillsdale leading 9-5. Hillsdale jumped out to a 9-0 lead after four innings before the Trojan's offense ignited for five runs in the top of the fifth. Kendall Andrews hit a double that brought in Megan Walker for the first run. Then Lenna Robinson hit a single that brought home Kendall Andrews and Azaria Jones. Then after Lenna Robinson stole third and Anna Bennett stole second, both were brought home by a Sydney McCormick single to make it 9-5.  

CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES- GAME ONE:

• Sydney McCormick went 2-3.
• Lenna Robinson went 1-3.
• Ashlan Sensing (11-4) pitched six innings and allowed only one run on three hits while striking out five batters.

CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES- GAME TWO

• Lenna Robinson went 2-3 with an RBI and one run scored.
• Kendall Andrews went 1-3 with an RBI and one run scored.
• Sydney McCormick went 1-3 with two RBIs.

UP NEXT

The Trojans will face the University of Findlay (26-9, 10-1 Great Midwest) in a double-header on Saturday at Findlay, with game one starting at 12:00 PM.
