NASHVILLE – No. 5 (NCBWA) Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (23-5, 9-3 Great Midwest) swept Saturday's doubleheader against Hillsdale College (11-15, 5-7 Great Midwest), 5-4 in game one (eight innings), and 8-5 (seven innings) in game two, at Jackson Field.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

The Trojans tied the all-time series at 8-8, winning the season series 3-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE: 

Hillsdale struck first in game one as they scored a run in the top of the second inning. The Trojans responded with a Roland Ryan solo home run to tie the game in the second inning. Then in the fifth inning, the Chargers took the lead back and made it 4-1. Again, the Trojans responded in the bottom of the fifth inning with three runs to tie the game back up. Shawn Wallwork hit a single into left field, which allowed Braden Reece to score. Following that, David Milam was brought in by a fly-out by Jordan Jackson. Then Braden Odom hit a double into right-center field, which brought Shawn Wallwork in for the score. Neither team could get any momentum, so the game went into extra innings. In the eighth inning, the Trojans finally broke through when David Milam hit a single that brought Henry Mosley for the walk-off.

GAME TWO: 

After the top of the third inning, Hillsdale took the early 3-0 lead. Then in the bottom of the third inning, Logan West got the Trojans on the board on a sacrifice fly-out. Hillsdale made it 5-1 in the fourth inning. Then the Trojans responded with seven runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Zeke Lecomte hit a single that brought in Henry Mosley. Andru Becker scored on a double play, and then Logan West hit a solo home run. Zeke Lecomte hit another single in the fifth that brought in Henry Mosley and Roland Ryan. Ryan Mortensen hit a single that scored Andru Becker to make it 7-5. Finally, Logan West hit a single to bring is Zeke Lecomte to make it 8-5. The Trojans held on to the lead and would not allow another run.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE- GAME ONE

• Shawn Wallwork went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored
• Roland Ryan went 1-3 with a home run, an RBI, and one run scored
• David Milam went 1-3 with an RBI and one run scored
• Brooks Helton (3-0) pitched 3.2 innings and allowed no runs and no hits while striking out four batters

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE- GAME TWO

• Zeke Lecomte went 2-3 with three RBIs and one run scored
• Logan West went 3-3 with a home run, a triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored
• Shawn Wallwork went 1-3 with an RBI
• Lee Cunningham (1-0) pitched 2.2 innings and did not allow a run on one hit, and struck out one batter

UP NEXT

The Trojans go on the road on Friday and Saturday to take on the University of Findlay (9-15, 5-3 Great Midwest) for a four-game series. Game one on Friday begins at 12:00 PM.
