Box Score 2 NASHVILLE – Trevecca Nazarene University softball (18-9, 4-2 Great Midwest) split its games against Walsh University (6-10, 2-2 Great Midwest), falling 7-6 in game one and winning 8-4 in game two on Saturday afternoon at the Trojan Softball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE:
Walsh came out of the gates very strong as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning. They would extend their lead in the top of the fourth inning to make it 6-0. Then the Trojans got back into the game as they responded with five runs to cut the deficit to one. Carly Sperlich hit a single into right field to bring Gracie Kirby for the score. Then Kaylee Adams hit a double, bringing Carly Sperlich and Jaylah Edmondson. After that, Malone Thrift scored on a wild pitch before Lenna Robinson hit a single to bring in Kaylee Adams for the score. Walsh hit another run in the fifth inning to make it 7-5. But in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Trojans got a run back to make it 7-6. Victoria Clark scored on a strikeout by Carly Sperlich with the bases loaded. But the Trojans would fall just short.
GAME TWO:
The Trojans took the early 2-0 lead after the second inning when Gracie Kirby hit a double that scored Alyssa Triner. Then Carly Sperlich hit a single that brought in Gracie Kirby. In the third inning, Sydney McCormick hit a grand slam into left-center field to make it 6-0. Walsh would get on the board in the top of the fourth to make it 6-2. But in the bottom of the fourth, the Trojans scored two more runs to reclaim their six-run lead. Sydney McCormick hit a double, which scored Alyssa Triner. Then Katie Brooks hit a double that brought McCormick to make it 8-2. Walsh attempted to rally late but came up short.

- Sydney McCormick went 2-2 with five RBIs, a grand slam, a double, and two runs scored
- Katie Brooks went 1-1 with a double and an RBI
- Alyssa Triner went 2-3 with three runs scored
- Ashlan Sensing (8-3) pitched five innings and allowed four runs on eight hits while striking out four batters
UP NEXT
Next Saturday, the Trojans go on the road for a double-header against Ashland University. Game one is set to begin at 12:00 PM.
