WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Trevecca Nazarene University softball (12-6) won the first of two games on the fourth day of the PFX Spring Games, defeating Ferris State University (8-8) 10-8, after being down 8-0 early. The Trojans rallied and score 10 unanswered runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE- Ferris State University

In the first inning, Ferris State came out very strong as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead. They capitalized on the Trojans not getting the offense going early on and added two more runs in the second inning. Then in the third inning, the Trojans got going as they cut the deficit in half. Alyssa Triner got to second base on an error by Ferris State's shortstop on a hit that brought Malone Thrift in for the Trojan's first run. Then with one out, Gracie Kirby hit a single that brought in Triner. Lastly, Lenna Robinson was walked with the bases loaded, which brought in Gracie Kirby to make it 8-4. The Trojans continued their rally in the fifth inning, where they scored five runs to take the 9-8 lead. The Trojans got another run off of a walk with the bases loaded. Then Anna Bennett hit a single that drove in Kaylee Adams. Alyssa Triner hit a double that brought in Malone Thrift and Lenna Robinson. Gracie Kirby rounded out the inning with a single that brought Anna Bennett in for the score. The Trojans would add one more run in the sixth inning to take a 10-8 lead.

• Anna Bennett went 3-5 with two doubles and two runs scored while adding an RBI
• Gracie Kirby went 3-5 with two RBIs and a run scored
• Rylee Veron (1-0) pitched six innings and allowed no runs on two hits while striking out six batters

UP NEXT

On Friday, the Trojans wrap up PFX Spring Games play. The first of two games is against Seton Hill University (9-2), and game two is against Nyack College (2-5). 

The Trojans play their first home game on campus Saturday, March 19. It is their Great Midwest conference opener versus the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers.
