Box Score NASHVILLE – Nationally-ranked No. 8 Trevecca Nazarene University baseball (4-1) defeated Lewis University (0-1), 3-2, at Jackson Field on Friday afternoon in a non-conference game. Trevecca will honor the 2021 College World Series team between games on Saturday (about 3:15 PM). The team will each receive a championship ring, commemorating their Great Midwest and Midwest Region championships.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
With the win, Trevecca pulls within a game of the Flyers in the all-time series who lead 5-4 over the Trojans. The Trojans won the last meeting between the teams 8-0 on February 29th, 2020.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Trojans stormed out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning after Braden Odom stole two bases and was brought in for the score on a single by Henry Mosely. Bryant Goolsby also scored on the play after starting on second base. The Trojans extended their lead in the third inning when Shawn Wallwork scored on a sacrifice fly out by Paxton Hughes. Lewis University responded with runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to bring the score to 3-2. Neither team was able to score from then on and the Trojans would hold off the Flyers rally.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Brooks Helton (1-0) was credited with the win after pitching two innings and allowing no runs and collecting five strikeouts.
Caleb Bly pitched four innings and struck out four batters.
Bryant Goolsby went 1-3 with a hit and one run scored.
UP NEXT
The Trojans host Lewis University (0-1) for a double-header on Saturday with the first game starting at 12:00 PM and the second game starting at 2:30 PM.
