SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
Trevecca is 3-1 versus Missouri S&T since the all-time series began back in 2019, while the Trojans picked up their first win ever over the Screaming Eagles as USI leads the all-time series 6-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: Missouri S&T
Missouri S&T took its first ever lead versus the Trojans in four games when they singled in a run in the third inning. Despite five hits in as many innings, the Trojans plated their first run in the sixth. A triple off the bat of Carly Sperlich brought in Kendall Andrews to tie the game at 1-1. The Miners would not go quietly in the seventh. An error by Alyssa Triner made way for Missouri S&T to grab a 3-1 lead heading into the final half inning. With two outs in the seventh, the Trojans rally was cut short as Andrews could not push a hit past the Miners' infield.
GAME TWO: University of Southern Indiana
The Screaming Eagles quickly jumped on the Trojans in the bottom of the first with a two-run frame after the Trojans were retired in order. Despite a slow start, the Trojans got a run back in the second when an Anna Bennett double put runners on second and third. Kendall Andrews then doubled in a run to tie the game at 2-2. A Malone Thrift single gave the Trojans their first lead of the tournament and TNU wasn't done yet. Lenna Robinson reached via first baseman error to complete the Trojans' four-run second inning. After a wild pitch plated another run for USI, the Trojans led 4-3 after two innings. Neither team scored until the Trojans took control in the fifth inning when Kelsey McPeters hit a single to bring Carly Sperlich in for the score. The Trojans added two more runs in the sixth, and three runs in the final frame which included two runs scored by walks with the bases loaded.
