SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

The Trojans and Crusaders had never met before today's contest.

With the win, the Trojans improve to 6-0 all-time versus the Hawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE: The Trojans quickly faced adversity allowing the first three Crusaders to reach base. Pitching with the bases loaded, Trojan starter Justin Campbell (0-1) allowed just one run off a single hit in the frame. A double steal in the third inning doubled the lead for Belmont Abbey who led 2-0 after three innings. Logan West's sacrifice fly in the fourth brought in Paxton Hughes as the Trojans cut into the deficit. The Crusaders poured on four runs in the sixth inning, however, a sacrifice fly and a three-run double opened it to a 6-1 game. In the bottom of the sixth, Shawn Wallwork brought in David Milam as it was 6-2 Crusaders through six frames. Both teams scored once more, both in the eighth as a sacrifice fly brought in the Crusaders' seventh run while Henry Mosley singled in the Trojans' third and final run.

GAME TWO: To close off the doubleheader, the Trojans used single runs in four different innings to put away the Hawks for the second time in as many days. In the first with two outs, Bryant Goolsby reached on a throwing error to bring in Shawn Wallwork. The Trojans scored again with two away in the second as Logan West singled in Henry Mosley who reached via a double. After a one-two-three third inning, the Trojans saw one more cross home in the fourth. This time Henry Mosley connected for a home run to left field to make it a 4-0 game after four innings. The fifth inning allowed Braden Odom to score from third via a throwing error after the senior stole third. Logan West singled in Zeke Lecomte in the sixth before a hit-by-pitch allowed Ryan Mortensen to make it a two-run inning. The Trojans led 6-0 after seven innings. A scoreless seventh made way for the Hawks to score three runs and make it interesting. The Trojans finished off the contest in the eighth by plating seven runs.
