HOW IT HAPPENED
Trevecca wasted little time getting its bats rolling in 2022, as five of the first six Trojans reached base to start off the first. RBI singles off the bats of Bryant Goolsby and Henry Mosley along with a pair of bases-loaded walks yielded the Trojans a 4-0 lead after the first. Two more hits in the second saw three runs score as Paxton Hughes collected a two-run single while Zeke Lecomte grounded out to bring in a run, giving the Trojans a 7-0 lead before six outs were made. Back-to-back walks in the third got the six-run frame started. Shawn Wallwork, Bryant Goolsby and Henry Mosley all brought in a single run before a throwing error allowed one more run score. Zeke Lecomte homered in the third to blow the game open to a 13-0 advantage. The Hawks received two of their six hits to begin the fourth inning on their way to score one of their two runs. The bottom of the fourth was the lone inning in which the Trojans would not score. A Bryant Goolsby solo home run led off the fifth inning while David Milam doubled in the Trojans' 15th run. Two more bases-loaded walks and a wild pitch allowed the Trojans to touch home in the sixth while a double (Braden Odom) and a single (Henry Mosley) provided a two-run seventh inning. Tarver Hayslip ended the onslaught with a two-run double in the eighth inning. The Hawks got their second run home on a sacrifice fly in the ninth, but the Trojans rolled to a 22-2 win on Opening Day.
