Box Score MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (1-4) wrapped up the Florida Tech Thanksgiving Classic with an 83-51 loss to the host Florida Tech Panthers (5-1) at the Charles and Ruth Clemente Center on Saturday afternoon.
THE SERIES
The Trojans and Panthers had not met before today's matchup, with Florida Tech now having the advantage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Trojans had a tough matchup against Florida Tech as they were shorthanded and down four players. The Panthers got the ball rolling early as they took an early 13-2 lead. Before Josh Goings and Gus Davenport had a layup, each to respond. Later in the half, the Trojans cut their deficit down following an 8-2 run led by a pair of three-pointers by Connor Martin. Florida Tech pulled away as halftime drew near. Gus Davenport added a layup, and Josh Goings hit a three-pointer to pull the Trojans within 36-22, but the Panthers scored nine straight points to go into halftime with a 45-22 lead.
Caleb Terry led the charge to start the second half, scoring the Trojan's first eight points. Later in the half, the Trojan's offense clicked when Lawrence Brazil III, Josh Goings, and Drew Blackston all made three-pointers during an 11-2 run to make it 65-45 with 8:19 left. Florida Tech took over and built their largest lead of the game late in the half, which put the game out of reach for the Trojans.
THE PLAYERS
Caleb Terry led the Trojans with 11 points and a team-high six rebounds. Gus Davenport added eight points, while Josh Goings also had eight points.
THE TEAMS
The Trojans shot 28% (18-64) from the floor, 20% (6-30) from three-point range, and 82% (9-11) from the free-throw line. The Trojans had the advantage in bench points 27-12.

The Trojans will travel to conference newcomer Northwood University (0-5) on Thursday at 7:00 PM.
