Fred Bailey, a freshman guard on the Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team, has been named Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week, presented by Athletic Solutions, for the week ending Sunday, March 1, 2026.
For Bailey, this marks his sixth Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week honor this season.
It is the tenth time a Trojan has earned GSC Freshman of the Week recognition in 2025-26. Bailey has received the award six times, while
Jax Abernathy has been selected three times and
Jeremy Jackson Jr. also earned recognition earlier this season.

Bailey, a 6-foot-2 freshman guard from Nashville, Tenn. (Pope John Paul II), averaged 21.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.0 steals as Trevecca split a pair of road GSC games to close the regular season. The Trojans finished tied for fifth in the conference standings after being picked 11th in the preseason coaches' poll.
In an 89-85 loss at Union, Bailey scored 25 points — his fourth 20-point game of the season — while adding nine rebounds. He shot 8-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-3 from three-point range, and went 6-of-7 from the free-throw line.
In a 94-89 win at Christian Brothers, Bailey again flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists against just one turnover. He shot 8-of-13 from the field in the victory.
For the week, Bailey shot 64 percent (16-of-25) from the floor, 3-of-3 from beyond the arc and 7-of-9 (77.8 percent) from the free-throw line.
The freshman has scored in double figures in 23 of 28 games this season and has recorded six double-doubles. He ranks as Trevecca's leader in rebounds and assists and is the team's second-leading scorer. He also ranks second on the team in made field goals, made free throws and steals.
Bailey ranks No. 3 in the Gulf South Conference in assists, No. 8 in rebounding, No. 10 in free-throw percentage, No. 10 in field-goal percentage and No. 18 in scoring. He also ranks No. 35 nationally in assists.
