Trevecca Men's Basketball | Trojans Headed to Third Consecutive Conference Championships

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team enters postseason play for the third straight season, continuing a stretch of consistent production and postseason qualification.

Now in year one under head coach Nate Moran, the Trojans posted an 18-10 overall record and a 13-9 mark in Gulf South Conference play, finishing tied for fifth in the league standings and earning the No. 6 seed in the 2026 Gulf South Conference Championships.

The 2025-26 season, the 58th in program history, has featured offensive balance, efficiency, and depth. Trevecca enters the postseason averaging 84.1 points per game, a figure on pace to surpass the NCAA-era program record of 82.7, set by the 2024-25 team. Trevecca opens its Gulf South Conference postseason run on the road after finishing tied for fifth in the league standings. Due to conference tiebreaker procedures, the Trojans enter as the No. 6 seed.

The Trojans produced one of the most consistent offensive seasons in the NCAA Division II era, posting a +4.8 scoring margin and ranking among the top three teams in the conference in scoring. Trevecca's 84.1 points per game average currently stands as the highest in program history through the regular season.

The season began with a five-game winning streak following a season-opening loss, highlighted by a home win over Embry Riddle in the Robert Garrett Memorial Classic at Trojan Fieldhouse. That victory marked Nate Moran's first collegiate head coaching win. The Trojans followed that stretch with their first Gulf South Conference victory of the season, defeating Auburn Montgomery at home.

A New Year's Eve win over Cumberland sparked a five-of-six run, pushing Trevecca to a 12-5 overall record and a 7-4 mark in conference play. After a challenging midseason stretch that included a two-overtime loss to eventual league champion West Alabama, the Trojans rebounded by winning five of their next seven contests to close the regular season.

Trevecca vs. West Florida

Trevecca and West Florida have met four times over the past two seasons, with the Trojans holding a 3-1 advantage in the series. The teams split the regular-season meetings this year, with each earning road wins.

In the most recent matchup, Trevecca earned an 81-79 victory at the UWF Fieldhouse on Feb. 5. Jax Abernathy scored a career-high 32 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including 3-of-6 from three-point range, and added nine free throws. Da'Shon Fisher contributed 27 points and seven rebounds.

In the first meeting of the season, West Florida posted an 82-78 win at Trojan Fieldhouse. Anthony Igiede led the Argos with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Tim Hall Jr. added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Abernathy scored 22 points for the Trojans, and Justin Bass added 19 on 8-of-12 shooting.
