Box Score ROME, Ga. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (1-2) went on the road for the first time this season and fell to Shorter University (1-2) 73-64 in the Winthrop-King Centre on Tuesday night.
THE SERIES
The Trojans still have the lead in the all-time series against Shorter 7-3. The Trojans took last season's meeting in Trojan Fieldhouse 67-58 on November 20th, 2021.
THE MATCH
Both teams came out evenly matched to start the first half. Shorter got a 12-5 lead, but the Trojans matched them and tied it up at 15-15 with 10:02 left in the half. Drew Blackston led the surge with a pair of three-pointers. Following the tie, Shorter would go on a 12-2 run to take back the lead and went into the half up 36-24.
The Trojans got to work in the second half as they chipped away at their deficit. They got within 42-35 after two straight three-pointers. Later in the half, the Trojans went on a 10-4 run to get within six with 3:27 left in the game. But Shorter pulled away late as the Trojan rally fell just short.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
The Trojans shot 51.1% (24-47) from the floor, 42.9% (9-21) from three-point range, and 58.3% (7-12) from the free-throw line.
PLAYER BREAKDOWN
Jose Waring led the Trojans with 12 points and seven rebounds. Drew Blackston added 11 points. Lawrence Brazil III had 11 points and five assists.
UP NEXT
The Trojans will travel to Melbourne, FL, on November 25th to participate in the Florida Tech Thanksgiving Classic, where they will face the University of Mary (0-0) at 2:30 PM.
