Box Score NASHVILLE– The Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team (8-5-4, 6-4-3 Great Midwest) hosted Cedarville University (14-2-1, 12-1 Great Midwest) and fell 2-0 on Senior Day on the Hill.
SENIOR NOTES
Delayna Holman:
She is No. 1 among active NCAA Division II keepers in career saves, No. 4 among all active NCAA (I, II, III) keepers in career saves, and the Trojan's leader in shutouts with 25. She has the Great Midwest career saves record with 396. She is No. 4 in Great Midwest in career shutouts with 25. Allowed only 14 goals in TNU's 15 matches this year w/ a 1.01 GAA and 61 total saves. She is 8-3-4 with six shutouts this season.
Gigi Ariola:
Has a career-high in goals, points, and shooting percentage this season with three goals, six points, and a .136 shooting percentage. Holman has played in 14 games and started eight this season.
Karris Anastasio:
She has played all four of her collegiate seasons with the Trojans, appeared in 23 games, and started one this year.
Makena Schlosser:
She is third in career points with 55 and fourth in career goals with 23. She has played in 16 games and started all 16. She scored five goals and four assists with 14 points on the season. She was named to the All G-MAC Third Team last season.
Danyel Joy:
Has played four seasons with the Trojans and is fourth in career assists with 11. She has played in 15 games and started 14 this season with three assists while having a career-high in shots on goal with 12.
Annie Warner:
Has played in 15 games and started 10 this season. She has tied a career-high in goals on only five shots on goal with three and six points. She has 10 total shots this season and one game-winning goal against Ohio Dominican.
Tracy Roy:
She has played in 17 games and started all 17 while tallying 18 shots and seven shots on goal. She was named G-MAC Player of the week during the 2021-22 season, where she tied a career-high in goals with two and set a career-high in points with five.
Kendyl McCoy:
She has been limited in her Trojan career by unfortunate injuries but has been a significant part of the team on and off the pitch. She has worked hard to return to the field and made the most of her opportunities.
THE SERIES
The Trojans now have a 7-9-3 record versus Cedarville. The Yellow Jackets took the last meeting 2-1 on October 21, 2021, on the Hill.
THE MATCH
Cedarville put pressure on the Trojans early and often, leading to them relying on their counterattack for offense. Delayna Holman and the Trojan defense stopped the first few Cedarville shots, but the Yellow Jackets broke through in the 35thminute to make it 1-0. The Trojans limited Cedarville to only two shots on goal out of five total shots.
Cedarville kept the pressure on the Trojans by pinning them in their defensive zone. Cedarville kept the Trojan's counter-offensive in check by the Cedarville defense. Cedarville extended their lead in the 68th minute to make it 2-0. The Trojans were held to two shots in the second half as Cedarville took the match.
UP NEXT
Trevecca will finish the regular season on the road against Kentucky Wesleyan (3-12, 2-10 Great Midwest) on Tuesday at 5:00 PM before starting Great Midwest Postseason play.
