Trevecca Women's Soccer | Trojans Allow Season High Goals in Loss to Findlay

NASHVILLE– The Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team (8-4-4, 6-3-3 Great Midwest) lost 5-1 to the University of Findlay (9-4-2, 8-3-1 Great Midwest) on Wednesday night at the Trevecca Soccer Complex.

The Trojans allowed the most goals in a match this season. In fact, the Trojans allowed three goals once and two on three occasions. In the other 12 matches this season, the Trojan defense allowed one or no goals. For Findlay, this is a season-high for goals in a match.

THE SERIES

The Trojans have never defeated the Oilers in six meetings. Findlay leads the series 3-0-3. Findlay took the season series which includes a 1-0 decision on October 2, 2021, in Findlay.

THE MATCH

The visitors didn't wait long to get on the board. Payton Miller scored on an assist from Sage. Schnell at 15:14. The game-winner came just over five minutes later when Hannah Rybicki on an assist from Madison Mlsna at 20:50.

The lone Trojans goal came from Gigi Ariola at 31:50. It is her third of the season, which is now a career-high. She has six career goals. The score remained 2-1 through intermission.

From there, the Oilers poured on with three second-half goals. Two from Ellie Tischler (51:01, 52:29) who scored both in less than 90 seconds. Elizabeth Talabac scored the final goal at 73:32.

The Trojans were playing without Delayna Holman in goal, the Trojan's all-time leader in saves and shutouts. Freshman Bailie Fiore started her first collegiate match in goal.

It is the first home loss this season for the Trojans.

UP NEXT

Trevecca hosts Cedarville (12-2-1, 10-1 Great Midwest) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Trevecca Soccer Complex. The Yellow Jackets lead the series 8-7-3. Over the last 10 meetings, CU leads 6-3-1 and has won the last four. The final regular season match is on the road at Kentucky Wesleyan (3-11, 2-9 Great Midwest) on Tuesday, October 25 at 5 PM. Trevecca is 14-3-1 versus KWC and has won the last 12 meetings.
