THE SERIES
Hillsdale earned its seventh all-time victory over Trevecca since the Chargers joined the G-MAC in 2017.
MATCH DETAILS
The match started eerily similar to Friday's night meeting with Findlay. This time, it was Hillsdale who put the Trojans in a 3-0 hole to lead things off only for the Trojans to return the favor and level the match at 3-3. The Chargers gained control of the set by utilizing a 5-0 run to lead 8-3. The Trojans rallied to pull within as many as four at 18-14, but could not overcome the offensive prowess of the nation's 17th ranked team, falling 25-17. Rinse and repeat in set two as the Chargers once again secured the set's opening three points. This time, though, they would not relent. With a 4-3 lead, a 14-0 stretch put the second set quickly out of reach as the Chargers won 25-10. The third set was one to watch. In the end, the Trojans won, 27-25, but not without a little drama first. After winning the first point of the set, the Trojans found themselves in a battle. Neither team separated by more than three points until it was tied at 20-20. The Chargers would fend off a set point and ultimately earn one of their own at 25-24. However, it was the Trojans, led by an Ellie Buffler kill who extended the set. An attack error and a service ace finished off the Chargers in the third. Despite earning the first point in the fourth, Trevecca faced a 6-1 deficit in set four. The Trojans would not go away, though. After an attack error by Hillsdale, the Trojans pulled within one at 11-10 but ultimately could not overcome the Chargers' depth and attack power. Hillsdale won the fourth and final set, 25-17.
