COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (7-2, 0-1 Great Midwest) lost its Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener on the road at Ohio Dominican University (7-2, 1-0 Great Midwest). The Panthers took out the Trojans 3-1 (25-20, 25-18, 19-25, 25-16) at Alumni Hall.

THE SERIES

The all-time series is now level at 4-4. Trevecca won the first meeting in 2008. The series took a break until 2017 when ODU joined the Great Midwest. The Panthers have won the last two meetings.

MATCH DETAILS

The Trojans opened with a Chloee McDaniel kill and a 1-0 lead, but soon after the Panthers gained some separation. With the set tied 2-2, ODU used a 13-6 run to take a 15-8 lead. Trevecca closed the ODU lead to three at 22-19 but drew no closer.

The second set started with a 5-1 run for the Panthers and the Trojans never drew even in the set, forcing a must-win scenario in set three.

Trevecca jumped to a 6-1 start in the third and led the entire set, making way for a fourth set.

In the fourth, ODU regained control and led the entire set, closing out the match with their largest margin at 25-16.

TOP PLAYERS

Emma Titus had her best night as a Trojan with eight kills and a .375 attack percentage. The freshman added three blocks.
Ellie Buffler led the Purple and White with 14 kills, three service aces, four digs, and a block.
Austyn Baldwin contributed nine kills and four blocks.
Chloee McDaniel had 38 assists.

THE TEAM

Trevecca was outhit .177 to .241. Both teams produced 21 attack errors and seven service aces. The biggest difference came in kills, the Panthers had an 55-45 edge finishing attacks.

WHAT'S NEXT

Trevecca revives its series with original Great Midwest member Cedarville (2-3, 1-0 Great Midwest) at 1 PM on Saturday. The Yellowjackets lead the all-time series 16-4 and own an eight-match win streak.
