THE SERIES
Christian Brothers lead the all-time series 4-2. The Trojan victory is the first against the Bucs since 2016, also at the Trojan Fieldhouse. Christian Brothers had won the previous two meetings in 2017 and 2018. Erskine and Trevecca had never met before tonight's 3-0 sweep.
MATCH ONE – TNU 3, CBU 2
After the Trojans claimed the first two sets, the Bucs countered to take sets three and four. Trevecca weathered the storm eventually won in the fifth and final set. The Trojans started the game off by dominating the first two sets. The offense shared the ball in the first as six Trojans had two or more kills. Trevecca won the opening game 25-14, the widest margin of the match. In set two, the Trojans created separation after a 4-0 run allowed them 15-10 advantage. The Bucs put up 16 in the second set, but TNU closed them out, 25-16. Both the third and fourth sets belonged to CBU, 25-22 as adjustments were made. The Trojans wasted little time taking control in the fifth. After rattling off the opening three points, they would not look back, winning the set and match 15-8.
MATCH TWO – TNU 3, Erskine 0
Much like the match versus Christian Brothers, the Trojans stormed out to a two sets to none advantage. In set one, the difference came early. Trevecca rattled off six points (4-3 to 10-3) off Claire Hindman's service game. The Trojans collected the first six points of the second set and didn't look back. It was Chloee McDaniel who led the charge with her service game. Despite allowing one additional point to the Flying Fleet, the Trojans managed to cap off the second, 25-13. An interesting third set went the Trojans way after a few rotation mistakes created some delay. After Katy Torgerson pulled the Fleet within one at 4-3, the Trojans took control off Lydia Yonce's service by scoring the next six points. The Trojans won the third and final set, 25-19.
