Box Score FINDLAY, Ohio – On Championship Saturday at the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Championships, the top-seeded Trevecca Nazarene University (26-12) Trojans needed two wins to pair their 2021 Great Midwest Regular Season title with a tournament championship and earn the league's AQ (Automatic Qualifier) to the NCAA Division II Midwest Region. Sixth-seeded Ohio Dominican University (28-16) denied the Trojans and won the championship 4-2. The Panthers did not lose in the tournament on the way to the championship
Trevecca lost in the opener of the tournament, sending them to the loser's bracket where the Trojans won four in a row, including three on Friday, to reach championship Saturday.
The Panthers came into Saturday undefeated, so the Trojans needed two wins over ODU in the double-elimination tournament to secure the AQ (Automatic Qualifier) to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers didn't wait long to get on the scoreboard, Hackerd reached on a leadoff single and moved to second on a sac bunt from Meents. With two out Adams connected on her eighth home run of the year, a two-run shot over the center-field wall.
In the second, ODU added to their lead. Bales reached on a leadoff double and scored when Madden singled with one away.
In the top of the third, Trevecca scored two runs. Brooke Eakes hit a leadoff single and with one away, but to third on a Matti Byrd double. MaKray Odom followed with a double, driving in Eakes and Byrd. The Trojans rally ended there and subsequent promising offensive threats were snuffed out by the Panthers defense and the pitching of Long.
CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES
Long (17-9) pitched a complete game allowing seven and distributed eight strikeouts.
Neither pitcher issued a walk in the game.
MaKray Odom hit a double and drove in two runs while Matti Byrd reached with a pair of hits including a double.

SERIES HISTORY
The Trojans and Panthers met for the 14th time. The Trojans lead the series 10-4 all-time.
Trevecca won both games in the regular season, 6-2 and 3-2, on April 26 in Nashville. The win by ODU breaks a four-game win streak in the series for the Trojans.
