Trevecca Softball | Trojans Earn 20th Win in Split at Kentucky Wesleyan

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (20-10, 12-4 Great Midwest) split a pair of games at Kentucky Wesleyan College (12-21, 5-11 Great Midwest), 1-0, 1-3, helping the Trojans maintain second place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference standings.

With the win, Trevecca hit 20 wins for the 21st consecutive season.

SERIES HISTORY
Trevecca leads the series 20-13. The game one win gave the Trojans a fifth consecutive win in the series. The streak is the longest in the series. The game two KWC broke that streak.
GAME 1
The Trojans broke a scoreless tie on the sixth home run of the year by Carly Sperlich in the top of the fourth inning. It proved to be the game-winning run. Raygn Hall (10-7) made it stand up pitching a complete-game shutout.
GAME 2

The Panther's offense exploded with three runs in the bottom of the first and the Trojans, unfortunately, only scored a single run in game two. Trevecca managed just one hit while also limiting KWC to just four hits. Alyssa Triner got the only hit for the Trojans, a double that drove in Megan Groves for the only run in the top of the second. Groves reached on a walk.

CIRCLE AND BOX NOTES
GAME 1
The Trojans scratched out five hits and Raygn Hall allowed seven hits and no walks while striking out seven.
GAME 2
Alex Behnke (9-2) lost for just the second time this season. Hannah Caffey pitched 5.1 innings of scoreless ball in relief, allowing just one hit and produced three strikeouts. Only four Trojans reached base against KWC starter Evyn Hendricks (8-9). Trevecca collected one hit, one walk, and two Trojans reached on a hit-by-pitch.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Trojans close out the regular season slate with road games at Lake Erie College (9-28, 4-12 Great Midwest / April 30) and Ursuline College (7-21, 7-9/ Great Midwest / May 1).

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships are set for May 6-8.
