THE SERIES

It was the fourth all-time matchup, and the first time since 2005 since the Trojans and Bruins went head-to-head. Trevecca now trails 4-0 in the series.

THE MATCH

Trevecca started on the front foot early, stunning Belmont with a goal just in the 10th minute as former Bruin Pablo Martin rolled a pass across the face of the net and it was finished by Yared Ambaw for his third goal in two games, putting Trevecca on top 1-0.

The Trojans absorbed a lot of pressure throughout the remainder of the first half, and a penalty kick was awarded in the 29th minute, giving the Bruins a chance to equalize. Niccolo Dagnoni's penalty shot was parried wide by goalkeeper Tyler Delgado, and the Trojans carried a 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Belmont was able to set up shop in Trevecca's half, with the Trojans fending off waves of Belmont pressure. Belmont finally broke through in the 65th minute, when Ares Marlonsson took advantage of a rebound from a save by Delgado to barely get it across the goal line. It was a delayed goal call, as the assistant referee had his flag raised and the goal was awarded after a conference by officials. The Belmont pressure continued, and the Bruins found another goal in the 84th minute, forcing a deflection off Trevecca's Zachary Polk for an own goal to take the 2-1 lead.

Trevecca had one good chance left in it, as Martin created a two-on-one opportunity with Michael Jones in the dying minutes, but it was closed down by Belmont goalkeeper Drew Romig, and the Bruins were able to hang on to win.

DETAILS

Yared Ambaw continued his scoring run for the Trojans, now having scored all three of Trevecca's goals this season in his first two games as a Trojan.
