Box Score OWENSBORO – The Trevecca Nazarene University Women's Soccer team (1-1-1) won its first match of the 2020-2021 season on Saturday, finding a stunning game-winning goal in double-overtime from Tracy Roy to defeat the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers (0-1, 0-1 Great Midwest) by a score of 1-0.
It was the first game of the 2020-2021 Great Midwest campaign for the Trojans.

THE SERIES
Saturday's match was the thirteenth time Trevecca and Kentucky Wesleyan went head-to-head, and the Trojans now lead the all-time series with nine wins, three losses, and one draw.
THE MATCH
It only took Trevecca 14 minutes to find a lead. After winning a corner kick, Danyel Joy's service was bundled into the goal by Lexie Wilson for a 1-0 lead.
Trevecca was able to hang on to the lead for the remainder of the first 45 minutes, forcing a handful of shots and taking a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Over 15 minutes into the second half, Kentucky Wesleyan set up a free kick far outside the box on a foul by Hayden Collins that prompted a yellow card. Kentucky Wesleyan's Natalie Hinchcliffe sent a long free kick across the box to the far post, where it was finished by Chloe Hinchliffe to tie the game at 2-2 in the 63rd minute. The final half hour of regulation went back-and-forth, but the match went into overtime with a score of 1-1.
Neither team found a winner throughout the first ten minutes of overtime, but Trevecca grabbed the game-winner with only 6:13 to play. The Trojans forced a throw-in in Kentucky Wesleyan's half, and Danyel Joy laid off the ball for Tracy Roy, who launched a long-range effort from outside the box over the outstretched hands of goalkeeper Reegan Garrity. Trevecca won the game 2-1.
DETAILS
Trevecca forced 13 shots on goal compared to Kentucky Wesleyan's four. Lexie Wilson forced three, while Makena Schlosser, Abbigail Legg, and Tracy Roy all forced two. Danyel Joy finished the game with two assists with Lexie Wilson and Tracy Roy as the goalscorers. Goalie Delayna Holman made three saves.
Kentucky Wesleyan midfielder Chloee Hinchliffe was the lone goalscorer for the Panthers, and goalkeeper Reegan Garrity had an outstanding effort with 10 saves.
WHAT'S NEXT
Trevecca will return home on March 18, to play the first Great Midwest match at Trevecca Soccer Complex against Tiffin.
The Trojans will stay at home to host Findlay on March 20, before hitting the road again to Malone on March 25.
