SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
It was the seventh meeting between Trevecca and Ohio Dominican, and the Trojans cut the ODU advantage to 4-3 all-time with the victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a tight matchup at the early onset, as both teams traded early turnovers before finding a groove offensively. Chris Rogers got the scoring started with two quick three-pointers, and from there it was a back-and-forth affair throughout the first half. Calvin Walker gave Trevecca a 12-10 edge midway through the half with back-to-back steals that resulted in transition buckets, and both teams continued to trade blows, making it 18-18 with 5:59 to play before halftime. Consecutive three-pointers by Ohio Dominican's Sean Marks gave the Panthers a 26-24 edge with 2:30 to play before the break, and ODU would cling on to the lead for the remainder of the first half, leading 29-26 at halftime.
Trevecca came out firing in the second half, setting the tone with a three-pointer by Austin Wills. Brendan Newton, Imani Starling, Gabriel McKay, and Rogers all contributed to the Trojans' 13-3 run out of the break. Trevecca would not let go of the lead after this point, and ballooned it up to a 50-40 advantage with 7:06 to play after a three-point play by Walker. Ohio Dominican hung around, cutting it to a six-point lead with a pair of free throws by Marks with under two minutes to play, but a massive deep ball banked in by Walker gave the Trojans a nine-point lead with 1:27 to go. Ohio Dominican post players Caleb Strohmeier and Matt Hall fouled out in the second half, as Trevecca's Adam Webb and Brendan Newton found their groove down low. The Trojans would hang on for the 63-54 victory, snapping a seven-game losing streak and winning for the first time since January 2.
