THE SERIES

With the win, Trevecca's third straight over the Arrows, the Trojans now lead the all-time series, 9-5.

THE MATCH

In the opening set, Trevecca grabbed the early momentum, taking a 6-2 lead over the Arrows. Ursuline scored four straight points to tie the set at 6 before the Trojans used a pair of two-point bursts sandwiched around a 4-0 run to open up a 15-10 advantage. Ursuline got no closer than four points over the rest of the set as Trevecca slowly extended its lead before taking Set 1, 25-16.

The Trojans got off to another fast start in Set 2, building a 5-2 lead before Ursuline battled back to briefly take the lead, 9-8. The teams then battled on extremely even terms through the middle of the set with ties at 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 before 2-0 bursts by Ursuline, and then Trvecca re-tied the set at 19. After another pair of points tied the set, 20-20, the Trojans were finally able to take control and score five of the final six points of the set to take Set 2, 25-21.

Ursuline came out in Set 3 determined to extend the match, holding an 8-4 lead early on in the set. Trevecca slowly worked its way back into the set and tied the set at 10, 12, and 14 as Set 3 became as tight as Set 2 was. The Trojans and Arrows were tied at 20, then again at 22, and for a final time at 23, as the outcome of the set hung in the balance. Ellie Buffler put down a kill to give Trevecca a 24-23 lead and the Trojans took advantage of a handling error to get the final point and take Set 3, 25-23, to close out the match.
