Box Score NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (18-8, 9-5 Great Midwest) lost to Tiffin University (12-17, 6-9 Great Midwest) 3-1 (25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19) on Friday evening while on the road.

THE SERIES
The Dragons still lead the series, 5-3.
MATCH DETAILS
The Trojans looked to make a statement early against Tiffin and continue their six-game winning streak. However, Tiffin came out of the gates strong, going on a 6-1 run to start the game. After the Trojans collected a few points, the Dragons went on a 5-1 run to make the score 12-5. The Trojans rebounded with a 7-1 run to cut their deficit to one. Tiffin then forced Trevecca to take a timeout to regroup following a 6-1 run by the Dragons. Trevecca responded to the timeout with a 6-2 run highlighted by three kills by Ellie Buffler and a few attack errors by Tiffin. Both teams traded points late in the set, but Tiffin escaped with a narrow 25-22 win.
SET TWO
Trevecca began the second set with a 5-1 run highlighted by two kills apiece by Madison Martin and Ellie Buffler. Tiffin would end up tying the setup 6-6. The game became a back and forth affair before Tiffin went on a 5-2 run to make the score 17-17. Tiffin got three more points forcing a timeout. After the timeout, the Trojans pulled within 22-20, resulting in a Tiffin timeout. Tiffin again narrowly won the set 25-22.
SET THREE
Trevecca started the third set on a 9-3 run capped off with a service ace by both Claire Hindman and Ellie Buffler. The run forced Tiffin to take a timeout. The Dragons responded with a 5-2 run, reclaiming a bit of momentum back. They cooled off because both teams scored four points to make the score 15-12 in favor of the Trojans. The Dragons took another timeout after a 4-2 run by the Trojans. Trevecca took a commanding 23-17 lead late in the set, and they would hold on to the lead, winning the set 25-21.
SET FOUR
Trevecca stormed out to a 7-1 lead in the fourth set. However, Tiffin came roaring back and tied the set up 8-8, which forced a timeout by Trevecca. The Trojans got two points, and then Tiffin went on a 6-1 run, which drew out Trevecca's final timeout. Tiffin followed up with a 7-2 run to make it 21-13. The Trojans pulled within five following a 5-2 run. But the Dragons closed it out 25-19.
TOP PLAYERS
Ellie Buffler led the Trojans with 16 kills, an assist, a service ace, and 19 digs. Emma Titus was second on the team with 11 kills and a dig.
THE TEAMS
Tiffin outhit the Trojans .121 to .117. The Trojans led in kills 51-47 and assists, 50-45.
UP NEXT
The Trojans finish off the regular season on the road at Ashland University (15-12, 11-3 Great Midwest) at noon on Saturday.
