THE SERIES
Make it two in a row for the Trojans who swept the Storm in Nashville during the spring season. Lake Erie still leads the all-time series 3-2 after five matches.
MATCH DETAILS
Both squads traded punches early on in the set. Thanks to a slew of attack errors by Lake Erie, the Trojans opened a 9-5 lead early. The Storm, however, erased that margin with a 6-0 run to lead by two. An Ellie Buffler kill ended that run as the teams played to a 17-17 tie. This time, it was the Trojans' 6-0 run that came at a pivotal time as their 23-17 lead would not disappear. A pair of Storm service errors handed the Trojans the opener, 25-20.
SET TWO
Down a set, the Storm secured the first two points before the Trojans rattled off four points on their service game. The teams traded leads until it was 9-7 and from there the Trojans' offense went to work. Led by three Austyn Baldwin kills, the momentum shifted for Trevecca midway through the set when, as part of an extended 10-1 run, the Trojans owned a 17-10 advantage. Although the Storm fought back and came within a point a Madison Martin kill and yet another error made way for the Trevecca set win, 25-22.
SET THREE
The Trojans wasted little time flexing in the third. A kill, service ace, and attack error paved the way for a 3-0 lead which was all the room needed. Lake Erie picked up the point at 6-4 but would stay off the scoreboard for a while. The Trojans pieced together a 15-1 run to bury the Storm. During their run, Ellie Buffler poured on four service aces to help Trevecca to a 21-5 lead. From there, the Trojans paced themselves to the finish line when Cara Maguire spiked down the final point for the 25-10 set and match win.
