THE SERIES
The two squads had never met before tonight's meeting as the Eagles are making their inaugural campaign through the Great Midwest after transitioning from the GLIAC prior to the 2021-22 season.
THE MATCH
The Trojans faced an uphill battle while playing under the lights for the first this season. Although Ashland and Trevecca had never previously met, the Eagles quickly found their stride in Nashville. In just the 7th minute of action, Joseph Renner put Ashland on the board. Nearly three minutes later, Kieran Patterson doubled the Eagles' advantage in the 10th minute. Patterson found the back of the net once again in the opening 45 minutes, pushing another strike past Adan Gonzalez in the 14th minute. Brajdi Cekrezi finished the scoring off for the Eagles when he struck in the 17th minute for a 4-0 lead. All four goals were assisted by Rafael Pereira who was seemingly in the middle of the action all evening. Pereira was done passing. In the second half, he secured a goal in the 55th minute to give the Eagles a 5-0 advantage. The Trojans responded minutes later when Shane O'Connell connected for his first strike of the season. Michael Jones pulled the Trojans back within three when he scored off a ball sent in by Ben Singer in the 67th minute. The defending GLIAC champions picked up their second win of the season to pass the Trojans on the G-MAC table.
